We are so proud of our fearless leader, who last week was awarded both the Distinguished Pharmacist Award from the University of Minnesota’s Pharmacy Alumni Society and College of Pharmacy and the College’s Professional Advocacy Award. These come in addition to his recent recognition from the Minnesota Pharmacists Association (MPhA) when he received the Harold R. Popp Award in October. You’ll be able to check out these and other honors our pharmacy and staff have received over the years at the front of our store soon! John works tirelessly to serve not just you—our SPCD patients—but our community, staff, state, and patients all across the country who will be or already are being harmed by the consequences of local pharmacy closures. Like most indy pharmacists in the U.S., he’s the very hardest kind of worker, and so much of what he gives is given outside of the pharmacy—at home, over the weekend, in the neighborhood, while on vacation… Our team is so happy to see him recognized for his passion, drive, and commitment to fighting for a healthier future for all of us, and we’re equally excited to see an increased focus on our mission to keep independent pharmacy alive, accessible, and affordable. As always, John, we THANK YOU and are so grateful to work for and with you. Next time you see him, send him some love! In timely fashion, he’ll be heading to DC TONIGHT to join other independent pharmacy advocates on the Hill for the press conference officially reintroducing the Pharmacists Fight Back Act (PFBA)—to date, the most comprehensive federal PBM reform legislation and the one that we know could make a real difference for our profession and patients.
